Café de Paris Brut Non-Vintage

Reviewed on February 9, 2024

Cafe de Paris Brut Non-Vintage is made in the Bordeaux region. It is made by Cordier, a large French wine producer. This wine is the only wine allowed to have Paris on the label. The reason for this is that it was created in 1967, before the name Paris was protected. This wine has a grandfather clause allowing it to continue. I think it is a win-win because it is a tasty testament to one of the world’s most beautiful cities.

When I think of the Bordeaux region. I don’t usually think of sparkling wine. Red wine is king in Bordeaux. It’s home to some of the most expensive red wines in the world. Cafe de Paris is produced in Cubzac-les-Ponts, about 23 kms from the city of Bordeaux. It is a big player. The production facility sits on the banks of the Dordogne River. Beneath this plateau, 3 km of cellars run through the historic stone quarry. This region is famous for its 3 bridges. The most famous is the Eiffel Bridge, an impressive blue metal structure built by the famous engineer Gustave Eiffel. You can see it from the property.

Cafe de Paris Brut is a blend of 6 white grapes – Sauvignon Blanc, Ugni Blanc, Sémillon, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Colombard. It is produced using the Charmat Method, which is the same method used for prosecco.
