Pievalta Perlugo Zero NV

Reviewed on December 17, 2020

When most people think Italian bubbles, they immediately think of Prosecco. Nothing against Prosecco but I think it is only fair to acknowledge the many other spumantes that are tasty too. This Pievalta is made of 100% Verdicchio grape, which is one of Italy’s noble white grapes. The name Verdicchio is derived from the Italian word verde – meaning green. It directly translates to little green one.

It is from the Marche region which is one of the more undiscovered parts of Italy. Marche is on the eastern edge of central Italy. The Pievalta Perlugo is from the Verdicchio Dei Castelli di Jesi DOC. The ancient town of Jesi is only 25 kms east of the Adriatic Sea. The food culture is based on fish and seafood. Brodetto (fish soup) is a dish that is very popular here!

The Pievalta Perlugo Zero NV is crisp and refreshing with flavours of green apples, lemon zest and a hint of toasted bread!
