Biutiful Cava Rose

As Champagne is to France, Cava is to Spain. Up until the 1970s, they called it Spanish Champana. As you can imagine, the French didn’t like that very much as Champagne is a region in France. Lawsuits ensued and the French won. The Spanish were forced to come up with another name. The name CAVA means cellar in the local dialect of Catalan. Cava and Champagne use the same method to create the bubbles. It is called Method Traditionelle. In this method the second fermentation happens inside the bottle. The result is a higher quality wine with fine, integrated bubbles. It is my favourite method for making sparkling wine.

Biutiful Cava Rose Spain

The Biutiful Cava Rose is made of 100% Garnacha Tinta, or simply Garnacha. It is a Spanish red grape known as Grenache in France. The grapes in this Cava are 40-50 years old. They have adapted well to the windy conditions and hot climate in this region. Speaking of hot, that describes the growth in market share of Rose Cava. Their global market share has grown by 30% since 2020.
